Madrid, 23rd December 2024. The IMDEA Nanociencia institute hosted the annual gathering of early-stage researchers, showcasing the research works of the participants in an event filled with discussions and collaboration. A total of 172 assisted to this scientific celebration, which featured 16 oral presentations and 78 poster communications, highlighting the students’ PhD results across four main areas of nanoscience: Nanomedicine, Quantum Materials and Surface Science, Photophysics and Materials.
The event featured two distinguished plenary lectures delivered by Dr. Pablo Ares (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and Dr. María Sancho (Universidad de Zaragoza), whose insights over advanced atomic force microscopy and extracellular vesicles and nanoparticles against cancer, respectively, inspired the audience and enriched the scientific dialogue.
This year’s Social Media Scientific Scientific Session was celebrated over the internet. While the participation was moderated, this edition contributions have spread beyond X/Twitter to other social networks X/Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon and Tiktok. All contributions can be seen at the webpage of the event.
In recognition of outstanding contributions, prizes were awarded to the participants Daniel García (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) for the Best Talk, to Alejandro Romero (Instituto Hospital 12 Octubre/UCM) for the Best Poster, and to Claudia Cardozo (Metallodrugs Group at IMDEA Nanociencia) for the Best Social Media Communication. The prizes have been sponsored by the specialised Group of Nanoscience and Molecular Materials (GENAM-RSEQ-RSEF), the Group of Young Chemical Researchers (JIQ-RSEQ), the Madrid Territorial Section of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (STM-RSEQ) and the Spanish Royal Society of Phyiscs (RSEF).
IMDEA Nanociencia’s Early Stage Researchers Workshop was once again the key event to fostering unity and collaboration among PhD students at the Institute and beyond. By providing a platform for young scientists to exchange ideas and establish connections, the IMDEA Nanociencia continues to nurture the next generation of researchers, strengthening the global nanoscience community.
